“What a great customer and staff event we just experienced thanks to TKR, we do so many of these type customer events every year for our customers and staff and it is hard to find something different, fun and exciting for our staff and clients to be invited to and for them want to actually turn up to in their own time”.

“The opportunity to see the original TKR V8 Supercar on display in real life at our facility with our clients present was just great and the opportunity to race each other at Bathurst on the TKR race simulators, along with the chance for every person who came along to the event to go into the draw to win a trip to Bathurst with TKR, just made the whole event great fun, exceptional value and something different for our clients”. Said Bruce Trennel.

“We will certainly be doing this again with TKR later this year, thanks TKR from the awesome event, the customer feed-back has been very positive”.

Well what a great start we have experienced during the first 20 days of the TKR 80 day Nationwide tour throughout New Zealand, featuring the original TKR V8 Supercar that TKR debuted in at Bathurst in 2000 as the first ever Kiwi V8 Supercar team to have ever competed in the Australian V8 Supercar Championship and so much more.

A true piece of Kiwi motorsport history and a vehicle that so many people have fond memories of, as the first ever Kiwi team to have ever competed in the Australian V8 Supercar Championship and the very same race car many saw on TKR’s first ever national tour throughout New Zealand, 18 years ago, prior to TKR’s Bathurst debut in October 2000.

This special vehicle along with the TKR Paul Radisich/Fabian Coulthard Holden and TKR Shane van Gisbergen Ford T Cars make the vehicle display very impressive with great feedback from guests at each function, the general public on open promotional days and those who have supported this special opportunity to date with venue visits/trade breakfasts/lunches and evening events.

We are also running two simulators as each event for your clients and guests to try out their driving skills and race around Bathurst against each other.

There is also a Bathurst trip up for grabs.

To book a function at your place on the tour for staff or guests, please feel free to contact me to discuss further or call me on 021 636877. Attached above and below in this email is the current tour schedule. The red boxers indicate availability for you to book. Great weekend in Taupo for the 3 round of the BMW Drivers Championship.
Both TKR Development Academy drivers showing their worth with race wins.
In fact TKR won 3 out of the 6 races over the weekend.
A just reward for the TKR crew who worked through the night on Friday night until 4.30am Saturday morning sorting a third TKR car that will debut later this season.

It was great to see with the #321 and #654 TKR/Pit Stop BMW Mini’s running both in separate classes providing the punters with plenty of exciting racing and for the sponsors plenty of brand exposure.
· Thomas Boniface in the #321 BMW Mini runs in the 2.0ltr class
· James Webb in the #654 BMW Mini runs in the Open class.
All three TKR BMW Mini’s will now return to the workshop and engine Dyno machine to ensure they are ready for a ride day at Manfield on the 3rd Dec and then back in Auckland for a ride day on the 9th Dec at Hampton Downs before a 1 hour enduro on the 10th December 2017 also at Hampton Downs to complete the first half of the season.

Press Release:
3rd October 2017

For 18 years Team Kiwi Racing (TKR) has been supporting up and coming Kiwi drivers at all levels of motorsport from grass roots level here in New Zealand to the top level of international competition.

The list of drivers Team Kiwi Racing (TKR) has supported either finically and or selected to drive for Team Kiwi Racing (TKR) directly is nothing short of impressive and reads as a list of who’s who of New Zealand Motorsport.

More recently TKR has remained focused of the development of fresh new Kiwi motorsport talent that TKR Owner David John believes has the potential to follow what TKR is all about and shine on the domestic motorsport market before making the significant step up to the international motorsport stage.

This year Team Kiwi Racing (TKR) has increased their support of young Kiwi drivers as part of the TKR Development Academy.

The commitment by Team Kiwi Racing (TKR) to increase their level of support for the coming season will see two identical TKR All Black Machines on the local circuits in 2017/18.

Thomas Boniface who also raced under the TKR banner last season and is the youngest every Kiwi driver to have competed in a New Zealand sanctioned motorsport event, has started the new season off on the right foot with TKR last weekend, winning his first touring car race at the opening round of the 2017/18 New Zealand Series in his TKR All Black Machine.

Adding to the TKR talent pool for the 2017/18 season is previous Speed Sport Scholarship winner James Webb.

Webb will be driving an identical looking TKR All Black Machine in a TKR two car campaign for the 2017/18 season.

Boniface will run in the 2.0ltr class and Webb will run in the Open Class providing great coverage over the weekend for our sponsors, supporters and the ability to share track condition information between TKR drivers each weekend.

James Webb Profile below:
• Hometown: Feilding, Manawatu
• Occupation: Student at Victoria University of Wellington (Bachelor of Commerce)
• High School: FAHS Feilding High School
• Family: Dad Sean, Mum Jennifer, Younger Sister Tessa 16 (New Zealand representative runner)
• Love of motorsport began from going down to Manfeild as a child with his Nana and Dad.
• Webb started racing at age 10 at Kartsport Manawatu where he quickly moved up the ranks to national competition and achieved a number of championship titles along the way as follows:
• NZ CIK Champion Junior Restricted
• Tauranga Street Race Champion Junior Restricted
• WPKA Goldstar Champion Junior Yamaha
• WPKA Goldstar Grand Prix Champion Junior Yamaha
• Multiple time Manawatu Club Champion
• Star of Excellence trophy winner
• Speed Sport Scholarship winner at the age of 15.
• Webb went on to secure 2nd place in the Manfeild Winter Series (2013/14).
• In 2015/16 Webb stepped up into Formula Ford Championship where he was a multiple time Formula Ford Championship Round winner in the South Island Series and achieved multiple national round podium finishes.
• In 2016/17 Webb was one of two Kiwi drivers selected to test drive a formula 4 car in Australia but due to the finances a driver was required to bring to the table to secure the drive Webb had no option to sit out the season with the exception of securing an enduro drive in a Porsche Carrera Cup Car along with multiple driver training days for various manufacturers throughout the season.
• In 2017/18 TKR gave Webb a call to see if the parties could get this talented young Kiwi’s drivers career back on track and the rest is history.

Webb will next line up on the gird for TKR at his home track of Manfeild on the 21st and 22nd October 2017.

“I just wanted to say a big thank you to TKR for this exciting opportunity and the chance I have been provided to represent such an iconic Kiwi motorsport brand”

“I know I have the drive and ability to succeed in motorsport but opportunities like what TKR has provided me and that TKR have provided many other top Kiwi drivers before me, just do not come along very often if at all and I look forward to repaying the faith TKR has shown in me through providing me with this exciting opportunity”. said James Webb

Press Release:
2nd October 2017

At 13 years of age and in only his second year as a TKR Development Academy driver, Thomas Boniface has achieved his first Touring Car race win in extremely trying conditions and against a quality field of competitors at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park on the weekend.

Boniface, who was selected as a TKR Development Academy driver after a nationwide search by TKR prior to the commencement of last season’s BMW Drivers Series, has shown plenty of development as a driver both on and off the race track over the last 12 months.

“It was great for Thomas, family and friends, the TKR Development Academy and our sponsors and supporters to see Thomas take his first Touring Car win at the opening round of the BMW Race Drivers Series at Hampton Downs on the weekend, especially in the very trying conditions the drivers and crews faced all weekend”

“To see a young driver like Thomas achieve his first ever race win and then back it up with a 2nd placing in Race 2 is a special occasion for all involved and it makes all the hard work done away from the track along with the hard yards that are put in to raise and or provide the required finances worth it in return”. said David John.

“I am grateful for the opportunity that TKR has provided to me for my second season and I hope that this win is a sign of many more to come for the team and myself”

“I really like driving the TKR All Black Mini and hope that we can achieve more race wins this season”. said Boniface. Boniface has been joined this season by ex-Speed Sport Scholarship winner James Webb who will compete in a second TKR BMW Mini this season. Thomas competes in the 2.0ltr class and Webb competes in the Open class.

Formula 1 driver has high praise for 13-year-old Taranaki speedster

Thomas Boniface, 13, has just returned from a driver training course in America with ex F1 driver Allen Berg.

He’s been hailed as one of the top up-and-coming young motorsport talents, but Thomas Boniface isn’t letting it get to his head.

Recently Boniface jumped at the opportunity to do a high performance driver training course in the US during the school holidays here in New Zealand.

As part of his TKR Development Academy program, the 13-year-old from Taranaki spent an intense day at former Formula 1 driver Allen Berg’s driving school in California with five professional driving instructors, where Boniface impressed Berg himself.

“I have not seen a kid with that much natural car speed and car control as Thomas showed on their first time in an unknown race car for many years,” Berg said.

Berg described Thomas as one of the best up-and-coming drivers he had seen in a while.

Thomas said the comments were extra motivation to carry on improving himself as part of the TKR Development Academy and live up to them.

“It made me rethink that I actually need to keep believing in myself because really there’s a lot of talent out there, so it’s really good to hear this feedback from someone who raced at the highest level of motorsport because it reinforces the fact that I’m a heading in the right direction with my driving career,” he said.

Boniface said he had learned quite a lot from the driving instructors, who used camera footage and data from the Formula Renault cars as well as watching the young drivers as they went around North California’s Laguna Seca track.

“They all had some good constructive criticism, every time I went out they all had some feedback which is the only way you learn,” Thomas said.

“They reinforced the need to be very accurate and consistent because you try every lap to be as fast as possible but you also try to be consistent at that level all the time as well.”

While in America, he was racing a car that could top 200kmh.

“During the day, Mr. Berg gave me some very good tips on the importance of making the car “flow” and keeping everything as smooth as possible”

“Any F1 driver or major person in the motorsport community is a big idol because you know they each have something different to share, so it’s really awesome that he’s taking a driver school and promoting young drivers to be the drivers they are today,” Thomas said.

Thomas began racing for Team Kiwi Racing (TKR) around 18 months ago and this season will continue competing in the BMW Drivers championship with TKR debuting a new vehicle on the international motorsport stage early 2018.

“Thomas Boniface is the real deal and he has a very exciting future ahead of him should we be able to keep finding the funding to nurture this talent to a point where his natural ability will shine through and teams will be wanting to secure and pay for his services in the future,” TKR team owner David John said.

For mum Donna and dad Robert, it was another proud moment watching him perform as well as he did and they didn’t have any problems with him taking control of a car that could top 200 kilometres an hour.

“I wasn’t nervous, it’s a funny feeling – I felt apprehensive but only for him, I knew he’d be ok behind the wheel once he settled in and a lot of that confidence comes back to the work Team Kiwi Racing has been doing with Thomas over the last 18 months as part of the TKR Development Academy,” Robert said.

Donna said she did get nervous “but my nerves aren’t about him making a mistake or driving badly, my nerves are him being disappointed with himself because he is really hard on himself”.

“If he makes a mistake or something goes wrong and I see that he’s made a mistake then I worry about the way he is so hard on himself for that,” she said.

“So when he comes in, that’s really my role as mum, to talk with him and unpack it…to try and get it out of his system so he can re-focus, get on with his driver debrief with the team and be ready for the next race”.

August 2017

Young Kiwi, 13 year old TKR Development Academy driver Thomas Boniface, was recently provided the opportunity to do a high performance driver training program in the US under the guidance of Ex F1 driver Allen Berg, at the world famous Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Northern California.

The key objective behind Team Kiwi Racing providing Thomas the opportunity to do a high performance driver training program in the US was to receive independent feedback from a top level professional race car driver who has competed at the top level of motorsport himself, along with input from his five professional driving instructors.

Secondly, it was to see if a totally independent race organisation saw the same potential in Thomas, as a very talented driver with an exciting motorsport future ahead of him, as TKR does.

Not only did Thomas impress the five professional driver instructors at the Allen Berg high performance driver training program but he also impressed ex F1 driver Allen Berg himself. In fact he impressed throughout the course so much that Allen Berg made time to specifically come over and reinforce how impressed he was with the young Kiwi.

Berg stated he had not seen a kid with that much natural car speed and car control as Thomas showed on their first time in an unknown race car.

And it did not finish there.

Allen’s comments were further backed up when the driving instructors secretly installed a data logger and GoPro camera on Thomas’s car without his knowledge during the last run of the day. They did this so they could see first-hand how the young Kiwi was achieving the lap times he was, as Thomas was 1 second per lap faster than the lead driving instructor at the end of the full speed Hot Laps session of the program.

“Thomas Boniface is the real deal and he has a very exciting future ahead of him should we be able to keep finding the funding to nurture this talent to a point where his natural ability will shine through and teams will be wanting to secure and pay for his services in the future”. said Team Owner David John.

TKR have been supporting the talented young Kiwi with his development both on and of the race track since Thomas was selected as a TKR Development Academy Driver 18 months ago when he was still racing karts as a national champion and multiple national karting title holder.

Thomas has since completed a full season in the BMW Drivers Championship with TKR in one of the teams Championship winning TKR BMW Minis.

“I always keep an eye on drivers coming through the grass roots level of motorsport, as TKR has for the last 18 years. I had seen the name Thomas Boniface along with other young Kiwi KartSport drivers names pop up frequently and I have always said a young driver needs to make the initiative to introduce him or herself to a Team Owner to show they have the initiative and drive to succeed in this sport, which is exactly what Thomas did”. said David John

Thomas made the effort and early one morning before school went to an open day TKR was holding in New Plymouth as part of a nationwide tour TKR had implemented to evaluate potential new TKR Development Academy driver for the coming season. At the completion of the national tour TKR short-listed the potential drivers they believed were the best fit for the TKR Development Academy and the opportunity it provides talented young Kiwi drivers, finally selecting Thomas Boniface.

18 months on Thomas has made significant head way that has seen the young Kiwi complete his first full season in the BMW Drivers Championship driving one of the TKR BMW Mini Championship winning cars.

With a number of local test days in New Zealand and input from Kiwi motorsport legend Craig Baird, the test day in the US recently, another test day in the US scheduled for later in the year, with the second season in the BMW Drivers Championship about to commence and confirmation TKR could be lining up on the grid in Australia in 2018, Thomas Boniface is a name to remember for the future.

TKR are looking to run a second TKR BMW Mini in this year’s BMW Drivers Championship as an extension to the TKR Development Academy. Interested parties should contact David John on 021 636877 or email djohn@teamkiwiracing.co.nz to register their interest.

A further announcement on the Team Kiwi Racing, 2018 Australian campaign, will be made in the near future.
